John Poynton AO Cit WA FAICD FAIM Sf FIN
Mr Poynton is Chairman of Jindalee Partners and SC8 Limited. He is a Board Member of the Future Fund Board of Guardians, a Director of Crown Perth and the Security Research Institute Advisory Board. He is also the Chairman of Council of Christ Church Grammar School and Giving West. He has previously served as the Chairman, Deputy Chairman or Non-Executive Director of a number of ASX listed companies, Federal Government boards, education institutions and not-for-profit enterprises. Mr Poynton is an Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia and is a past recipient of a WA Citizen of the Year award in the industry and commerce category. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and an honorary Doctor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia.
Mr Poynton was appointed Chairman on 10 April 2017.
Simon Ashton, B Sc (Hons) M Sc MBA
Mr Ashton has over 40 years experience in the Australian and international petroleum and resources industries. He spent over 22 years with WMC Limited (WMC) holding various positions in Australia and Internationally in WMC’s petroleum divisions. Amongst other things, Mr Ashton established WMC’s USA petroleum subsidiary, Greenhill Petroleum, where he served as Senior Vice President in Houston, Texas.
Mr Ashton co-founded Strike Energy Limited in 1997 and served as Managing Director until 30 September 2011.
Mr Brendan Ostwald, MAICD
Mr Ostwald is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ostwald Bros, a diversified, market-leading construction and mining services company employing over 1,200 people nationally. Mr Ostwald has over 20 years’ experience in the management of remote infrastructure developments with a particular focus on Australian on-shore oil & gas and coal projects.
Mr Ostwald was appointed to the Board as a Non-Executive Director on 30 June 2014.
Ms Jody Rowe, Dip Acc, Dip FM, MAICD, MCIP
Ms Rowe is a contracts and procurement specialist with over 20 years in the oil & gas sectors. Having held a number of senior management positions with organisations such as QGC, QGCLNG, Santos and Rio Tinto, Ms Rowe recently established roweSMG a boutique advisory practice that advises clients on strategies to realise value from emerging and developing resource projects. During her career Ms Rowe has been involved in the management of a number of large scale contracts and procurement and construction projects.
Ms Rowe was appointed to the Board as a Non-Executive Director on 30 June 2014.
Mr Goyder is an experienced investor and entrepreneur with a strong track record of successful investment and value creation in the Australian and international mining and energy sectors. He has a thorough understanding of the Australian and global equities markets, exploration for and development of resource projects, commercial negotiation and corporate M&A . He is a major long term shareholder of Strike and is a major shareholder and founding director of a number of ASX‐listed and TSX‐listed emerging resource companies based in Perth, Western Australia.
Mr Goyder was appointed Non-Executive Director on 10 April 2017.

Stuart Nicholls, B.Comm (Acct & Fin)
Mr Nicholls is an energy industry professional having worked across both the up and downstreams at Royal Dutch Shell. He has experience within Finance, Commercial – Joint Ventures, Economics, Strategy and Exploration primarily from within Royal Dutch Shell’s gas businesses. He has a deep knowledge of the energy system and previous experience also includes six years with the Australian Army in senior leadership positions. He has worked in Australia, The Netherlands, Myanmar and Malaysia in both a corporate and operational capacity. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Accounting).
Mr Nicholls joined Strike on 10 April 2017.
|Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary
Matthew Montano, B. Com (Accounting), CA, GAICD
Mr Montano joined Strike Energy Limited in the role of Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary in January 2017. He is a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in financial management across ASX-listed, multinational and private equity specialising in business transformation, capital management and mergers and acquisitions. Mr Montano previously held the position of Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary of the franchise group, LJ Hooker, achieving business and revenue growth, overseeing the successful sale of the business, subsequent debt refinancing and project team to take LJ Hooker to an Initial Public Offering. Prior to LJ Hooker, holding various financial, commercial and senior management positions at GPT and Intercontinental Hotels Group. Mr Montano has responsibility for all aspects of Strike’s finance, corporate and company secretarial functions and brings extensive experience in strategy and planning, driving change, joint venture management and operations.
Mr. Montano joined Strike in January 2017.
|Chief Operating Officer
Mr Thompson has over 20 years of oil and gas experience in Australia, the USA, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia. Mr Thompson has worked as a reservoir or petroleum engineer for a number of operating companies, including Oil Search, Novus Petroleum and Origin Energy and as Business Development Manager for Leed Petroleum. Mr Thompson Graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Geology) from QUT in 1991 and completed a Graduate Diploma in Reservoir Evaluation and Management from Heriot Watt University in 1994.
Mr Thompson joined Strike in September 2012 and was promoted to the role of Chief Operating Officer effective 1 July 2014 with responsibity for all aspects of Strike’s exploration and evaluation activities.
